The event was preceded by The Ice King casting a spell in an ice sphere over Polar Peak for 3 days. He proceeded to make a giant projection of himself which took form over the ocean. He waved his hand back and forwards a few times before casting it forward, with the large projection mimicking his movements.

After he cast his hand forward, the entire map is full of snow now. Fortnite Chapter 3 will start sometime on December 7th according to leaker HYPEX. Epic Games will take the Fortnite servers offline immediately after the live event and players will return to the Black Hole screen they watched after Season X. While details of the event have not yet been released by the battle royale developer, a date, time and warning has been provided for players scrambling to finish the Season 8 Battle Pass.

The start of a new chapter will come with a new battle pass and challenges to complete, which will reward players with various cosmetics. There may also be a cinematic or a playable cutscene at the start of the new chapter since that's been the case for the latest season starts inFortnite. Chapter Two will conclude with a live event that players will be able to join. This finale will also mark the start of Fortnite's third chapter. One big change is that players will have more ways to earn battle pass XP outside of the battle royale mode. Typically, if you wanted to earn battle pass stars/XP, you were restricted to playing in one of the normal battle royale modes, or the 50 vs. 50 Team Rumble.

Presumably, this means you can earn XP in alternate modes like Creative and LTMs. That will be great for players who want to earn higher-level skins, but don't have the interest or skill for intensely competitive multiplayer stuff. Today's The End Fortnite Chapter 2 live event finale will take place at 4 PM ET . However, you'll want to queue for the Fortnite live event early as it's likely there will be a limited number of players that can participate. Epic Games has confirmed they will be hosting this thing once, and unlike concerts, there will not be multiple time slots available.

Unlike past seasons, Fortnite is set to begin a new chapter, meaning there will be a lot of new content going live after the live event has ended. Epic Games is hosting what is expected to be an extensive and exciting Fortnite live event to help end the year with a bang. The good news is that this weekend's big event can be watched by everybody who has the game installed and will also be interactive. The live event playlist was leaked some time ago and it has been titled "The End".

The Cube Queen will take on her ultimate form during this live event and a showdown between the Queen of the Last Reality and Dr. Slone is expected to take place. The End is the Fortnite Chapter 2 finale event where players will come together to battle against the Cube Queen, the main villain of the current chapter. For the second time in Fortnite history, the game is set to enter into a new chapter - and marking the end of Chapter 2 Season 8 is a huge one-off live event for players. In the mean time between the live event and the official start of Season 3, there will likely be some sort of map change. We've seen in previous seasons how a live event has resulted in a minor map change for the in-between time. Such as when the robot took down the monster and left behind a skeleton on the map.

Before The End live event, a special watch playlist will be added to Fortnite. This is to avoid the griefing that went on during past live events, where mean-spirited players would wait until the action was just about to begin before blowing up everyone watching. Last time this was around 36 hours - with nothing but a black hole for players to watch for the duration - and we can imagine this will be the same here. If so, then you can expect to start playing Chapter 3 sometime late Monday morning / early afternoon UK time. Though not many details are known yet about the upcoming event, it's likely that this this countdown timer may end with some sort of full-scale alien invasion of the Battle Royale map. Assuming the many previous leaks are accurate, Fortnite Chapter 3 – Season 1 will go live on December 7, though Epic hasn't confirmed those details at this time.
